THE Lovewell team

Lovewell Birth Collective & Wellness Shop, formerly Well Rounded Doulas, began back in 2015, as a hearts dream of three doulas who dared to believe that Sarnia-Lambton would be ready and willing to honour them with their journeys through pregnancy, labour, and beyond. This dream became a reality, and along with the Sarnia-Lambton community, Lovewell has grown!

Carlie Pitka
Lovewell Partner, Doula, Registered Massage Therapist

Born and raised in Sarnia, ON, Carlie has always had a special interest in pregnancy, birth, and newborns. She graduated from Lambton College's two-year Advanced Massage Therapy Program in class of 2011. Having the opportunity to attend a cousin's birth, her massage skills came in handy. She started putting more effort into promoting prenatal and labour massage, and after a couple birth experiences she quickly realized this was her "sweet spot."

Carlie discovered becoming a Doula was the perfect fit; her doula journey began early 2015. She is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through Doula Training Canada. With further research and experience, Carlie also specializes in latching and positioning for Breastfeeding and offers Breastfeeding Support services within her scope as a Doula.

Aside from her Partnership at Lovewell, and her Doula and RMT work, Carlie is a mother of 4. She loves the outdoors, sports, boardgames, and ice cream!

Nicole Newman

As a curious and sensitive person, Nicole always felt at home in the birthing world. After her beginnings as a doula in 2013, there wasn't much that could tame her desire to support birthing folks in different and dynamic ways- to acknowledge the beauty in their strengths and softness, and to empower them as they start their transformations into one of the most important roles of their lives. Each and every birth, every pregnancy and baby moment, experiencing the value of connection, has been one of the greatest enjoyments in Nicole's life.

When not supporting Lovewell, Nicole is usually home, sipping tea and writing, and sharing her life with her better half and 2 radical kidlets, along with the occasional pilates class. She also really enjoys writing about herself in the third person.

Stephany Borthwick

Stephany is a mother of two beautiful girls, a nurturer and a lover of all things birth, postpartum and parenthood. Throughout her own postpartum journey as a young mom, she felt the impact and importance of having a positive village. From there, Stephany discovered that she wanted nothing more than to be that vessel of support for pregnant and labouring humans in her community. She came together with the Lovewell partners to create a safe space where expectant folks and parents would feel cared for, supported and respected - all under one roof.
Aside from her Partnership at Lovewell and her work as Lovewell Shop Manager and Branding and Marketing, Stephany can be found loving up on her supportive husband, gently parenting her two little girls and indulging in vegan food.

Kathryne Knowles

Kathryne is the mom of 3 awesome kids - ages 29, 28, 21. She was born and raised in Sarnia and the surrounding area, most recently lived in Grand Bend. She moved back to Sarnia to be closer to her family. Best decision ever!

Kathryne always wanted to be a nurse, and through her training was able to find her passion in Labour and Delivery.  She worked in Michigan for 4 years then decided to try the travel nursing route. This experience was amazing and has made her a better and more experienced nurse than she thought possible. Kathryne was able to work in antepartum, labour and delivery, postpartum, NICU, and pediatrics She also has had the privilege of working coast to coast in California, settling in San Jose, in the only high risk hospital for Southern California, where if you name, it she did it - including delivery of sextuplets and flight nursing! She is so blessed to have had this in her life. One day while online she came across the Doula training with DONA and knew this was for her. She has worked with some amazing Midwives and Doulas, and the sisterhood and connection these support people brought to the birthing experience made it more special and peaceful as baby entered the world and took that first breath.

Kathryne loves teaching and coaching new parents as they get to know themselves, their baby, and all the changes associated with pregnancy, labour and beyond. She has been told she is easy to connect with and that her demeanour brings peace and confidence to the birthing experience. Kathryne is certified in breastfeeding and is planning to take birth educator training in the New Year.  She will always be learning and upgrading to better serve her clients, and her goal is always to give you the best birth experience possible. Kathryn must warn you though - she cries at every birth, as it is the most beautiful thing you can experience and she is so invested in the joy of the moment that she cannot help it!

It is Tory's mission to support parents in her community by introducing them to the ancient traditions and guiding principles of yoga in an effort to guide them through their pre and postnatal journey and healing, all while building a sense of community and support for parents to thrive.
